The ASGLB data return is completed by every local authority, voluntary adoption agency, and regional adoption agency in England on a quarterly basis.

The latest publicly available data covers the period up to 31 December 2018. Please click on the links below to download the Business Intelligence reports and Local Level ASGLB data files.

The latest key headlines are:

  • There were 2750 children waiting at 31 December 2018. This is a 1.9% increase from 30 September 2018 when there were 2700 children waiting with a placement order not yet placed with an adoptive family.
  • The number of new placement orders has fallen from 920 in quarter 2 in 2018/19 to 850 in quarter 3 2018/19; a decrease of 8%.
  • Registrations to become an adopter have increased from 800 in quarter 2 to 920 in quarter 3; an increase of 15%.
  • The number of families approved for adoption has increased from 670 in quarter 2 2018/19 to 780 in quarter 3 2018/19; an increase of 16%.
