Latest ASGLB data
The ASGLB data return is completed by every local authority, voluntary adoption agency, and regional adoption agency in England on a quarterly basis.

The latest key headlines are:
- The number of children waiting has decreased. There were 2800 children waiting with a placement order not yet placed with an adoptive family. This is a decrease of 4.4% (130n) from 31 December 2018 when there were 2930 children waiting.
- The number of new placement order granted continues to fall. There were 3700 new placement orders in 2018/19. This is a decrease of 8% (310n) from 2017/18 when there were 4010 placement orders granted.
- The number of registrations to become an adopter is increasing. There were 4100 registrations in 2018/19; an increase of 14% (500n) from 2017/18 when there were 3600.
- The number of families approved for adoption is increasing. There were 3000 families approved for adoption in 2018/19. This is an increase of 1% (20n) from 2017/18 when there were 2980.
